Rochdale U16’s ‘Flying high’ with RAF sponsorship.
Rochdale RUFC’s U16 team received new rugby shirts and rain jackets, courtesy of the RAF, immediately prior to their recent EFE Lancashire Junior Plate Final against Eccles. The RAF decided to sponsor the team as part of their ongoing commitment to sport. Flight Lieutenant Phil Todd and Corporal Stuart Turner of the RAF Careers Office in Manchester came to Rochdale RUFC in Moorgate Avenue to present the kit to Pete Coldman, the U16’s head coach and Anthony Philbin, team captain. The team will wear the kit as they go on to compete in Colt’s League rugby over the next 3 years.
In addition to the sponsored kit, the RAF also donated a large number of rugby balls for use by Rochdale’s teams from U15 upwards. One of the team’s new sponsored shirts will now be put on display at RAF Cranwell, which is known as the RAF University.
The team and club would like to express their great appreciation to the RAF for their generous sponsorship of the team and hope that they can earn their ‘Wings’ whilst wearing it !
